ADVANCES IN AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ARCHITECTURE: KEY DECISION FACTORS FOR OEMS

Öz

Advancements in automotive electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture are crucial for the industry's future. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) should integrate these technologies and optimize their E/E systems by considering numerous decision factors. Zonal E/E architectures offer benefits like modularity, scalability while reducing complexity. The evolution of network communication protocols such as ethernet and time-sensitive networking (TSN) is vital for high-speed, deterministic communication since they ensure robust and reliable data transmission which is quite critical for vehicle safety and performance. OEMs should also take into account the cost implications and trade-offs associated with these advancements. This study highlights the need for a strategic approach to automotive E/E architecture by evaluating domain-oriented and zone-oriented layout initially. Then, it discusses key decision factors related to E/E architecture design, computational requirements, network protocols and cost management which make OEMs to have a roadmap for E/E architecture development and harness the technological advancements effectively. This approach will also enhance vehicle performance and safety while following the future innovations in the automotive industry. Finally, the study emphasizes the necessity of a strategic approach from OEMs based on the key decision factors in order to integrate new technologies.
