INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF CONSUMER ATTITUDES AND DEMANDS ON ACCESS TO HEALTH SERVICES: APPLICATION OF PARETO ANALYSIS

Öz

Access is an important concept in examining the organization, financing, and delivery of health care. In order to ensure equality of access and sustainability in the demand and consumption of health services, access to health services must be well managed. In the provision of health services, the obstruction of patient flow and the resulting disruptions in treatment are caused by various obstacles in front of access. In this study, it was investigated whether consumer demands have an effect on supply in terms of increasing access inequality in health services.
The aim of this study is to provide a different perspective on the necessity of investigating the effect of consumer attitude factors in accessing health services, in the formation of patient flow congestion in order to receive care and benefit from services, and to examine the existence of the effect of demand-side factors on supply and to generate data in order to develop managerial strategies.
The research is designed as a cross-sectional research model in which the relationship between cause and effect is examined together in a certain time period. In the study, the one-year patient flow distribution of outpatients who applied to a public health institution to receive health services was examined, the data were analyzed and interpreted on the basis of the Pareto principle.
As a result of the findings obtained, outpatient clinic applications of patients who requested access to health services in order to receive care and benefit from services were grouped on the basis of branch and diagnosis, and analysis was performed on a sample group of 2000 people. According to the results of the Pareto analysis applied to calculate the number of benefiting from the outpatient clinic in the provision of health services; It has been observed that 20% of the patients in all branches occupies 80% of the total examination mass performed within their own group.
In the results obtained with the Pareto analysis, it is predicted that determining the density of consumers in the demand for health services, examining these individuals in terms of consumer attitudes and behaviors, and evaluating their purchasing behaviors can be qualified as a quantitative decision tool in marketing research for decision makers.

Sağlık Hizmetlerine Erişimde Tüketici Tutum ve Taleplerinin Etkisinin İncelenmesi: Pareto Analizi Uygulaması

Öz

Erişim, sağlık hizmetlerinin organizasyonu, finansmanı ve sunumunun incelenmesinde önemli bir kavramdır. Sağlık hizmetlerinin talep ve tüketiminde erişim eşitliği ve sürdürülebilirliğin sağlanabilmesi için sağlık hizmetlerine erişimin iyi yönetilmesi gerekmektedir. Sağlık hizmetlerinin sunumunda, hasta akışının tıkanması ve buna bağlı olarak tedavisinde aksaklıkların yaşanması erişimin önündeki çeşitli engellerden kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada sağlık hizmetlerinde artış gösteren erişim eşitsizliğinde tüketici taleplerinin arz üzerine etkisinin olup olmadığı araştırılmıştır.
Bu çalışmanın amacı, bakım alma ve hizmetlerden yararlanma amacıyla sağlık hizmetlerine erişimde, hasta akışı tıkanıklığının oluşmasında tüketici tutum faktörlerinin etkisinin araştırılması ve talep yönlü faktörlerin arz üzerine etkisinin varlığının incelenmesi gerekliliğine farklı bir bakış açısı sağlamak ve yönetsel stratejiler geliştirilebilmesi için veri oluşturmaktır.
Araştırma belirli bir zaman kesitinde, neden ve sonuç arasındaki ilişkinin birlikte incelendiği kesitsel araştırma modeli olarak tasarlanmıştır. Çalışmada, sağlık hizmeti almak için bir kamu sağlık işletmesine başvuru yapan poliklinik hastalarının bir yıllık hasta akış dağılımı incelenmiş, veriler Pareto ilkesi temel alınarak analiz edilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır.
Elde edilen bulgular sonucunda, bakım alma ve hizmetlerden yararlanma için sağlık hizmetlerine erişim talebinde bulunan hastaların poliklinik başvuruları branş ve tanı bazlı olarak gruplandırılmış, 2000 kişilik örneklem grubu üzerinde analiz yapılmıştır. Sağlık hizmeti sunumunda poliklinikten yararlanma sayısının hesaplanması amacıyla uygulanan pareto analizi sonunçlarına göre; branşların tamamında %20’lik hasta kitlesinin kendi gurubu içerisinde gerçekleştirilen toplam muayene kitlesinde %80 lik yer kapladığı görülmüştür.
Pareto analizi ile ulaşılan sonuçlarda sağlık hizmetlerinin talebinde tüketicilerin yoğunluğunun belirlenmesi, tespit edilen bu bireylerin tüketici tutum ve davranışları açısından incelenmesi ve satın alma davranışlarının değerlendirilmesinin karar vericiler için pazarlama araştırmalarında nicel bir karar aracı olarak nitelendirilebileceği öngörülmüştür.
