The aim of this study was to examine the physical activity levels of firefighters in terms of some variables. For this purpose, a total of 140 male firefighters of different ages, education levels, and seniority levels participated voluntarily. The participants' physical activity levels were assessed using the IPAQ-Short Form, developed by Craig et al. (2003) and adapted to Turkish by Öztürk (2005). Chi-square analysis was used in the data analysis. According to the results of the analysis, a statistically significant negative correlation was found between age and physical activity level (χ²=126.033, p<.001). According to body mass index, normal weight individuals were more active, while inactivity was more pronounced in overweight and obese individuals (χ²=38.170, p<.001). In terms of educational status, associate degree graduates were more active, while high school graduates were more inactive (χ²=59.794, p<.001). Regarding marital status, single individuals were found to be more active, while married individuals were found to be minimally active or inactive. Childless individuals were more active, while those with multiple children had a higher rate of inactivity (χ²=105.033, p<.001). Individuals with shorter service tenure were found to be more active, while inactivity increased among those with longer tenures (χ²=96.993, p<.001). Furthermore, those without chronic diseases were found to be significantly more active (χ²=69.257, p<.001). In conclusion, it is suggested that the physical activity levels of firefighters are influenced by various socio-demographic factors, and that training and exercise programs should be developed to increase the physical activity levels of firefighters.
