Bütüncül Yaklaşımla Sporun Kişilik ve Ahlak Üzerindeki Dönüştürücü Gücü

Öz

Spor, insanlık tarihinin en eski dönemlerinden itibaren yalnızca fiziksel bir etkinlik olmanın ötesine geçerek bireylerin kişilik gelişiminde, toplumsal değerlerin kuşaklar arası aktarımında ve ahlaki karakterin biçimlenmesinde önemli bir unsur olarak yer almaktadır. Günümüzde sporun bu dönüştürücü niteliği özellikle genç bireylerin olumlu gelişim süreçleri bağlamında bilimsel araştırmaların merkezinde bulunmaktadır. Bu araştırma, karma araştırma yaklaşımı çerçevesinde yürütülmüş olup sistematik derleme yöntemine dayanmaktadır. Çalışmada hem nitel hem de nicel veriler birlikte ele alınarak literatürde yer alan bulgular bütüncül bir bakış açısıyla analiz edilmiştir. Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, SPORTDiscus, PubMed gibi uluslararası ve DergiPark gibi ulusal veri tabanlarında konu ile ilişkili anahtar kelimeler kullanılarak tarama yapılmıştır. Bulgular, sporun yalnızca fiziksel gelişimi destekleyen bir araç olmanın ötesinde, bireyin entelektüel (IQ), duygusal (EQ) ve ruhsal (SQ) boyutlarını da içeren dengeli bir gelişim destekleyicisi olduğunu göstermektedir. Pozitif Gençlik Gelişimi (PYD) yaklaşımı çerçevesinde spor katılımının gençlerde yetkinlik, özgüven ve yaşam becerileri üzerinde olumlu etkiler oluşturduğu meta-analitik araştırmalarla kanıtlanmıştır. Deneysel çalışmalar, spor eğitimi alan öğrencilerin sportmenlik değerlerinde %38 oranında anlamlı bir artış olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. TPSR gibi programların sorumluluk ve prososyal davranışları artırdığı, düzenli sporun psikolojik iyi oluşu yükselttiği belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, sporun bireylerin fiziksel, bilişsel, duygusal ve ahlaki gelişimlerine katkı sağladığını; özellikle yapılandırılmış programlar ve olumlu sosyal çevrenin bu etkileri güçlendirdiğini göstermektedir. Sporun gelişimsel etkilerini artırmak için yapılandırılmış programların yaygınlaştırılması ve antrenör ile ebeveynlerin destekleyici sosyal iklim konusunda bilinçlendirilmesi önerilmektedir.

The Transformative Power of Sport on Personality and Morality Through a Holistic Approach

Öz

Sport, from the earliest periods of human history, has gone beyond being merely a physical activity and has played a significant role in individuals’ personality development, the intergenerational transmission of social values, and the formation of moral character. Today, sport’s transformative nature is at the center of scientific research, particularly in the context of positive youth development. This study was conducted within a mixed research approach and is based on the systematic review method. Both qualitative and quantitative data were analyzed together, and the findings in the literature were examined from a holistic perspective. The databases scanned included international ones such as Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, SPORTDiscus, PubMed, and the national database DergiPark using relevant keywords. The findings show that sport is not only a tool supporting physical development but also a balanced development facilitator that includes the individual’s intellectual (IQ), emotional (EQ), and spiritual (SQ) dimensions. Within the Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework, meta-analytic studies have proven that sport participation has positive effects on competence, self-confidence, and life skills in youth. Experimental studies revealed a significant 38% increase in sportsmanship values among students receiving sports education. Programs such as Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) significantly increased responsibility and prosocial behaviors. Regular sports participation was also found to enhance psychological well-being. The obtained findings indicate that sport contributes to individuals’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and moral development, and that structured programs and positive social environments particularly strengthen these effects. To increase the developmental effects of sport, it is recommended to disseminate structured programs and raise awareness among coaches and parents regarding supportive social climates.
