ADULT AXILLARY CYSTIC HYGROMA AND CONCOMITANT CYSTIC NODULARY GOITRE (CASE REPORT)

Abstract

Cystic hygroma is a benign disease of the lymphatic system which usually presents in the first years of childhood. A 48 years old male patient was admitted our hospital with left axillary mass. Computerized tomography showed a left axillary cystic lesion about 10x8 cm and a cystic nodule in thyroid right lobe extends towards mediastinum. The axillary lesion was resected and diagnosed as cystic hygroma. In another session, exploration was done via collar incision and cystic thyroid tissue extending towards mediastinum was detected. Subtotal thyroidectomy was applied and pathological diagnose was cystic nodular goitre. During six months follow-up period patient has no problem. We present this case because of its appearance in adulthood, axillary localization and concomitant thyroid lesion which extended towards mediastinum.

ERİŞKİN YAŞTA SAPTANAN AKSİLLER KİSTİK HİGROMA VE KİSTİK NODÜLER GUATR BİRLİKTELİĞİ (OLGU SUNUMU)

Öz

Lenfatik sistemin benign bir hastalığı olarak bilinen Kistik higromalar, genellikle hayatın ilk yıllarında saptanırlar. Kırk sekiz yaşındaki erkek olgu, sol aksiller şişlik şikayeti ile başvurdu. Bilgisayarlı tomografide; sol aksiller bölgede 10x8 cm.'lik kistik lezyon ve tiroid sağ lobunda mediastene uzanan kistik dansitede nodüler görünüm saptandı. Öncelikle aksiller kitle eksize edildi, kistik higroma tanısı konuldu. Ayrı seansta "Collar" insiz-yonla yapılan eksplorasyonda tiroid dokusunun retrosternal bölgeye uzandığı ve kistik bir hal aldığı saptandı. Subtotal tiroidektomi uygu landı ve histopatolojik incelemesi "kistik nodüler guatr" olarak bildirildi. Postoperatif 6. ayındaki olgunun takibi sorunsuz devam etmektedir. Olgu, erişkin yaşta saptanması, aksiller bölgede yerleşmesi ve aynı zamanda mediasten yerleşimli tiroid patolojisi ile birlikte bulunması nedeniyle sunulmuştur.
