Investigating the Relationship between Affective Neuroscience Personalities, Job Satisfaction and Emotional Appetite in Long-Shift Healthcare Workers

Aim: To determine the relationship between emotional neuroscience personality traits, job satisfaction and emotional appetite in healthcare professionals working long shifts. Method: A total of 140 healthcare workers working long and short shifts were included in the study. The participants' emotional appetite, affective personality types and job satisfaction levels were assessed with the Emotional Appetite Questionnaire (EAQ), Affective Neuroscience Personality Scale (ANPS) and Job Satisfaction Scale (JSS), respectively. Results: We found significantly lower total job satisfaction in long shift participants (133.19±37.69 p<0.001). A positive statistically significant relationship was found between the Emotional Appetite Questionnaire “Positive” score and the Job Satisfaction subscales “Individual Factors” (r=0.245 p=0.041), “Physical Conditions” (r=0.255 p=0.033), “Interpersonal Relations” (r=0.311 p=0.009) scores. Conclusion: According to the results of our study, it was found that long-shift healthcare workers had lower job satisfaction compared to short-shift workers, but there was no difference between emotional appetite and affective neuroscience personalities. However, it was revealed that job satisfaction was positively related to positive emotional appetite in the long-shift worker group.

Uzun Vardiyalı Sağlık Çalışanlarında Duygusal Sinir Bilimi Kişiliklerinin, İş Doyumunun ve Duygusal İştah Arasındaki İlişkinin Araştırılması

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı uzun vardiyalı çalışan sağlıkçılarda duygusal nörobilim kişilik özellikleri, iş tatmini ve duygusal iştah arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Yöntem: Çalışmaya uzun ve kısa vardiyalarda çalışan toplam 140 sağlık çalışanı dahil edildi. Katılımcıların duygusal iştahı, duygusal kişilik tipleri ve iş doyum düzeyleri sırasıyla Duygusal İştah Anketi (EAQ), Afektif Sinirbilim Kişilik Ölçeği (ANPS) ve İş Doyum Ölçeği (JSS) ile değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Uzun vardiyalı katılımcılarda toplam iş doyumunun anlamlı derecede düşük olduğunu bulduk (133,19±37,69 p<0,001). Duygusal İştah Anketi “Olumlu” puanı ile İş Doyumu alt ölçekleri “Bireysel Faktörler” (r=0,245 p=0,041), “Fiziksel Durumlar” (r=0,255 p=0,033), “Kişilerarası İlişkiler” (r=0,311 p=0,009) puanları arasında pozitif ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulundu. Sonuç: Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre uzun vardiyali sağlık çalışanlarının kısa vardiyalı çalışanlara göre iş doyumlarının azaldığı ancak duygusal iştah ve afektif sinirbilim kişilikleri arasında bir fark yaratmadığı bulundu. Ancak uzun vardiyali çalışan grubunda iş doyumunun olumlu duygusal iştah ile pozitif yönde bir ilişkisi olduğu ortaya kondu.
