A core competence is a competitively important activity which a company performs better than other internal activities. Information and communication technology (ICT) is one of the core competencies that an organization possesses. The study focuses on the extent to which ICT as core competency is contributing to the success of hospitality industry in Cape Town, South Africa. The researcher reckoned that that ICT stands out to be a core competence in the hospitality industry in Cape Town, South Africa. The research study used the quantitative-descriptive design. A randomized crosssectional survey was conducted. A sample of 60 respondents was surveyed for the study to assess ICT as a core competence, its management and challenges in the hospitality industry in Cape Town, South Africa. It was concluded that ICT is one of their core competencies in running the business. There is a high rate of use of ICT in the hospitality industry, and the managers have adequate knowledge to manage corporate data. ICT adds value to the industry in terms of widening their client base and receiving feedback although managers face challenges in getting the maximum benefit of ICT
