BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF SMART CITY STUDIES FROM 1990 TO 2020

Yıl 2020, Cilt: 4 Sayı: 2, 85 - 100, 31.12.2020

Öz

To find solutions to the problems that arise in city life and to create more livable cities, cities need "smart" transformations in which information technologies are used in all scopes. Due to this need for transformation, the concept of "smart city" has emerged as a result of the overlap between smart information technologies and cities. With this study, it is aimed to investigate the development of “Smart Cities” academic studies in the world between 1990-2020. Analyzes made with bibliometric methods are interpreted how smart city studies have changed and developed. Bibliometric analysis includes information such as countries where scientific publications are produced, authors, cooperation between authors, citations, sources, institutions, and publication years. 4527 articles on the smart city were published in the "Web of Knowledge" database in a 40-year period between 1990 and 2020, and what the distribution of these articles was based on keywords was revealed. In addition, the most effective authors in this field were determined, citation analysis, intensity and communication maps of the field were shown.
