Early humans needed a product to carry and protect their belongings, and they made bags and
pouches from the materials found around them. The first hunters and gatherers kept their materials
and the animals they hunted in these bags and pouches. It is known that they create the products in
question using natural materials such as animal hides and cotton. Today, these bags and pouches are
generally referred to as bags. The bag made it possible for each of them, from hunters and gatherers
to agricultural settlers, to carry their food and valuables on their hands and bodies.
The bag has changed according to its shape and carrying purpose, taking on many different designs
from the past to the present. The related change adventure is understood from the bag forms that have
survived to the present day. Today, it has been seen that the bag form has been removed from being
an article of use and has been transformed into a work of art at the same time. In this direction, it is
seen that the artistic reflections of the bag form are realized not only with materials such as leather,
fabric and metal, but also with ceramic materials. Within the scope of the study, the works of local
and foreign artists working in the direction of the related subject in the art of ceramics were examined.
With this study, it is aimed to determine the artists who work in bag form and their works.
As a result, it has been seen that the bag form, which has continued its existence from the past to the
present, is handled as a subject by ceramic artists and produced as a ceramic work.
