This paper presents a hybrid solution to the problems presented byight and overcast conditions for box-type solar ovens. A hybrid solar oven is developed that is powered by both electric and solar energy, which can be used in early morning hours, on cloudy days, or when solar radiation decreases or vanishes. Findings from thermal tests and hybrid performance analysis are presented. We determined the figures of merit for F1 and F2 ovens, as well as cooking power, in accordance with Ibero-American Network of Solar Cookers guidelines. These experimental results demonstrate that the oven is suitable for home use in dry climates. We suggest the oven be implemented and developed as a component of existing government programs, as it can deliver cheap, reliable power to underpriviledged communities, and curtail deforestation.
