Building digital business ecosystem resilience through orchestration capability: The sequential roles of ecosystem knowledge integration and ecosystem service innovation

This study examines how digital business ecosystem orchestration capability enhances ecosystem resilience through sequential mediation by ecosystem knowledge integration and ecosystem service innovation, while accounting for the moderating effect of ecosystem dynamism. Data were collected via face-to-face surveys from 469 respondents between April and August 2025. Confirmatory factor analysis, bootstrapped mediation and moderated mediation analyses, and instrumental variable estimation were used to test the proposed model. The findings show that orchestration capability improves ecosystem resilience indirectly through knowledge integration and service innovation, with a significant sequential mediation effect. Moreover, ecosystem dynamism strengthens these indirect relationships. The study extends Dynamic Capabilities Theory to the ecosystem level by explaining resilience as the outcome of coordinated capability development and offers practical insights for managers seeking to build resilient digital business ecosystems.
