Self-efficacy scale in behavior management: Validity and reliability study in a Turkish sample

Öz

This study aimed to adapt the Self-Efficacy in Behavioral Management (SEBM) scale into Turkish and examine its psychometric properties among teachers in Türkiye. Using a cross-sectional methodological design, data were collected from 209 primary and middle school teachers in Aydın and Kocaeli during the 2023–2024 academic year. The adaptation process followed standard translation and back-translation procedures, and the scale’s validity and reliability were evaluated through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Results revealed a single-factor structure explaining 63.76% of the total variance. The model demonstrated acceptable fit indices. Reliability analyses indicated strong internal consistency. Measurement invariance across gender was supported at the configural, metric, and scalar levels. Overall, findings suggest that the Turkish version of the SEBM scale is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing teachers’ self-efficacy in managing student behavior in educational settings.
