Öz

In this study, the relationship between the Dead Mother Series made by Egon Schiele between 1910-1912 and the Dead
Mother Syndrome, the theory of psychoanalyst Andre Green, which entered the psychoanalytic literature in 1980, will
be examined. The concept of a dead mother in the theory in question not only refers to a mother whose physical death
has occurred but also to an emotionally inaccessible mother imago in the child's mind. Individuals with this syndrome
think that their mothers give them death rather than life. Egon Schiele's paintings in the Dead Mother Series also depict
a pale mother who looks almost dead and a vibrant child. When the life story of the artist is examined, it is seen that
the problems between his mother, which affects many of his works and is a factor in the emergence of this series,
coinciding with the syndrome described by Andre Green in name and content both.

Egon Schiele’nin “Dead Mother Serisi” ve “Ölü Anne Sendromu”

Öz

Bu çalışmada Egon Schiele’nin 1910-1912 yılları arasında yaptığı Dead Mother Serisi ile Psikanalist Andre Green’in 1980
yılında psikanalitik literatüre giren kuramı Ölü Anne Sendromu arasındaki ilişki incelenecektir. Söz konusu kuramda
geçen ölü anne kavramı yalnızca fiziksel olarak ölümü gerçekleşmiş olan bir anneyi değil, çocuğun zihninde duygusal
olarak erişilemez bir anne imagosunu da ifade etmektedir. Bu sendroma sahip bireyler, annelerinin kendilerine
yaşamdan çok ölüm verdiğini düşünmektedir. Egon Schiele’nin Dead Mother Serisi’ndeki resimlerinde de neredeyse
ölü gibi görünen solgun bir anne ve canlı bir çocuk tasviri görülmektedir. Sanatçının yaşam öyküsüne bakıldığında, pek
çok eserini etkileyen ve bu serinin de ortaya çıkmasında etken olan, annesi ile arasındaki sorunların Andre Green
tarafından tarif edilen sendrom ile hem isim hem de içerik olarak örtüştüğü görülmektedir
