Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Brezilya Amazonu’ndaki yerli halklar ve özellikle Kayapo halkı ve Kayapo lideri Tuire Kayapo’nun çevre mücadelesi ve bunun önemi hakkında bilgi vermektir. Amazon halkları, doğaya sadece fiziksel olarak barınma ve yiyecek ihtiyaçlarını karşıladıkları bir yer olarak değil, aynı zamanda manevi olarak da bağlıdırlar. Ancak, yerli olmayanlar ile temasla birlikte, 20. yüzyılda bu halkların yaşam alanları geri dönülmez bir tahribata uğramış ve bunun sonucunda sadece Amazon bölgesi halkları değil, bütün dünya bulaşıcı ve ölümcül hastalıklar ve önüne geçilemez bir küresel ısınmaya maruz kalmıştır. Makalede, söz konusu yerli halkların yaşam biçimleri, kullandıkları vücut boyaları, iletişim araçları, medya ile ilişkileri, yerli olmayan halklarla temas sonucu yaşanan çevre sorunları ve bulaşıcı hastalıklar ile bunlara karşı mücadeleleri aktarılmaktadır.

Öz

The purpose of this research paper is to give information about the environmental struggle of the Indigenous peoples of the Brazilian Amazon and its importance, especially the Kayapo people and the Kayapo leader Tuire Kayapo. The Indigenous people of the Amazon have a spiritual connection to nature beyond meeting their needs for shelter and food. However, in the 20th century, since their first contact with the non-indigenous, their territories have been destroyed, and consequently, not only the Indigenous people of the Amazon but the whole world has been exposed to infectious and deadly diseases and unavoidable global warming. This paper aims to introduce the lifestyle of the Indigenous people of this area, the bodypaints they use, their communication tools, their relationship with the media, the environmental problems, and infectious diseases as a direct result of their first contact with the non-indigenous people and their struggle against them.
