GUMMY SMILE TREATMENT WITH LIP REPOSITION: CASE REPORT

Öz

Gummy smile (GS) is a mucogingival condition characterized by excessive gingival visibility during smiling or speaking, affecting a significant portion of the population, and can cause psychological trauma. Hyperactivity of the upper lip elevator muscles and craniofacial skeletal disorders have been identified as the most important predisposing factors in the formation of GS. In this case report; a decrease in gingival visibility during smiling was achieved as a result of the treatment of a GS case with lip repositioning (LR) technique. In addition; secondary gains such as fuller lip appearance due to the new position of the upper lip, longer and more aesthetic clinical crown lengths emerged.

DUDAK REPOZİSYONU İLE DİŞETİ GÜLÜMSEMESİ TEDAVİSİ: VAKA RAPORU

Öz

Dişeti gülümsemesi (DG) gülme ya da konuşma sırasında dişetinin aşırı görünürlüğü ile karakterize, popülasyonun önemli bir bölümünü etkileyen, psikolojik travmalara neden olabilen mukogingival bir durumdur. DG oluşumunda üst dudak elevator kasların hiperaktivitesi ve kraniofasial iskeletsel bozukluklar en önemli predispozan faktörler olarak tanımlanmıştır. Bu olgu raporunda; bir DG vakasının, dudak repozisyonu (DR) tekniği ile tedavisi sonucu, gülme sırasında dişeti görünürlüğünde azalma elde edilmiştir. Buna ek olarak; üst dudağın yeni pozisyonuna bağlı daha dolgun dudak görünümü, daha uzun ve estetik klinik kuron boyları gibi sekonder kazanımlar olarak ortaya çıkmıştır.
