Nursing Research Examples Based on Pender's Health Promotion Model: Systematic Review

Yıl 2022, Cilt: 7 Sayı: 1, 87 - 97, 31.01.2022

Öz

Objective: The objective of this systematic review is to analyze the nursing researches in which for individual health behaviors utilizing Pender's health promotion model.

Material and Method: The study was carried out by retrospectively scanning of the publications which are related to the subject in electronic databases. Between January 1996 and July 2017, the terms "Pender and health promotion", "Pender's model", "Pender's health promotion model", and "nursing and Pender's model" were searched. The information network of Ege University Library, which is part of the Anadolu University Libraries Consortium, had 10 databases surveyed.

Results: The review covers studies conducted in 15 Asian countries and 7 American countries. In researches, according to the health promotion model topics include health promoting behaviors and determinants, exercise / physical activity, health promotion practices (oral health, hearing protection device use, breakfast consumption). When the evidence level of the research is evaluated; while 3 randomized controlled experimental studies provide evidence at A level, 19 studies in descriptive and cross-sectional type provide evidence at C level.

Conclusion: The result of the researches indicate that high self-efficacy, perceived benefits, interpersonal support, and less obstacle perception which are components of the model could be supporting for development of healthy lifestyle behaviors. The fact that this model evaluates individual's characteristics from various multidimensional aspects facilitates nursing initiatives and forms a systematic and scientific basis.

Pender’in Sağlığı Geliştirme Modeline Dayalı Hemşirelik Araştırma Örnekleri: Sistematik Derleme

Yıl 2022, Cilt: 7 Sayı: 1, 87 - 97, 31.01.2022

Öz

Amaç: Bu sistematik derlemenin amacı bireylerin sağlık davranışlarına yönelik Pender’in sağlığı geliştirme modelinin kullanıldığı hemşirelik araştırmalarını incelemektir.

Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma, konu ile ilgili yayınların, elektronik veri tabanlarında retrospektif olarak yapılmıştır. “Pender and health promotion”, Pender’s model, “Pender’s health promotion model’’, “nursing and Pender’s model”, anahtar kelimeleriyle Ocak 1996- Temmuz 2017 tarihleri arasında tarama yapılmıştır. Anadolu Üniversitesi Kütüphaneleri Konsorsiyumu kapsamında yer alan Ege Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi bilgi ağında yer alan 10 veri tabanı taranmıştır.

Bulgular: Derleme kapsamında; 15’i Asya, 7’si Amerika kıtasında bulunan ülkelerde yürütülen araştırmalar incelenmiştir. Araştırmalarda, sağlığı geliştirme modeline göre sağlığı teşvik eden davranışlar ve belirleyicileri, egzersiz/fiziksel aktivite, sağlığı korumaya yönelik uygulamalar (ağız sağlığı, işitme koruma cihazı kullanımı, kahvaltı tüketimi), incelenmiştir. Araştırmaların kanıt düzeyi değerlendirildiğinde; üç randomize kontrollü deneysel araştırma A düzeyinde kanıt oluştururken, tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel tipteki 19 araştırma C düzeyinde kanıt oluşturmaktadır.
