USE OF INFOGRAPHICS IN DATA JOURNALISM

Öz

Günümüz gazetecilik ortamı dijital dünyanın baş döndürücü etkisi altında büyük bir dönüşüm geçirmektedir. Hem akademisyenler hem de mesleğin uygulama alanındaki gazeteciler hızla değişen gazetecilik ortamının dinamiklerine adapte olabilmenin uğraşı ve telaşı içerisindedirler. Bilginin elde edilmesi, derlenmesi, yorumlanıp sunulması ve tüketilmesi geçmişe göre tamamen başka bir şekil almıştır. Bugün insanların maruz kaldığı haber ve bilgi miktarı inanılmaz boyutlara ulaşmıştır. Bu bağlamda gazetecilik de özelleşerek veri gazeteciliğine doğru evrilmekte; büyük boyutları ve karmaşıklığı sebebiyle anlaşılmaktan uzak hale gelen bilgilerin doğru biçimde yorumlanarak, kürasyondan geçirilerek sunulması önem kazanmaktadır. Web 2.0’ın şeffaflık ve topluluk oluşturma özellikleri ile gazeteciliğin haber verme ve bilgilendirme amaçları kesiştiğinde ortaya görsel tasarıma dayalı habercilik anlayışı çıkmaktadır. Bu çerçevede, veri gazeteciliğinde infografik başta olmak üzere görsel unsurların kullanımı gittikçe yaygınlaşmaktadır. Çalışma, veri gazeteciliğinin alt bir türü olarak ele aldığı infografik konusunu değerlendirmeye yönelik olarak tasarlanmıştır

Use Of Infographıcs In Data Journalısm

Öz

Today’s journalism undergo a huge transform under the stunning effect of the digital world. This transformation results in the great effort and rush to adapt for both the scholars and the journalists. Compared to the past; the obtaining, digesting, interpreting, serving and comsuming of the information is fully reformed. Today, people are exposed to a vast amount of information and journalism shifted to data-driven journalism specifically. The significance of serving of big, complicated and incomprehensible data after the correct interpretation and curation is understood. Intersection of transparency and community features of Web 2.0 and informing and reporting objectives of journalism create a new journalism understanding based on visual design. Within this framework; the use of visual elements particularly infographics in data-driven journalism became prevalent. This paper is concerned with the review of the infographics as a subsection of data-driven journalism
