AN EXAMPLE OF INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE: NİKSAR AYVAZ SPRING WATER FACILITY
Öz
This study examines the Niksar Ayvaz Spring Water Plant, which represents the industrial production history of Ayvaz Spring in the Niksar district of Tokat, from the perspective of industrial heritage. Although the facility no longer continues its production functions, it holds significance in terms of industrial history due to its role in the utilization of the regional water source, its testimony to technological developments in 1970s Turkey, the application of modern production techniques, and its architectural and cultural values. The research was evaluated based on a literature review, on-site observations, archival research, photographs, oral interviews, and measurement drawings. The findings highlight that the facility is at risk of being lost and emphasize the importance of preserving, documenting, and passing it on to future generations as industrial heritage. It is proposed that the building be preserved and undergo refunctioning as a museum.
