This study aimed to investigate and compare the depression and quality of life of parents of disabled individuals with and without urinary and fecal incontinence. The study included 18 disabled individuals aged between 4 and 27 years and their mothers, aged between 27-54 years, who were the primary caregivers of these children. The Urination Disorders Symptom Score (PBSS) was used to determine the presence of urinary incontinence, and the Holschneider Continence Scoring (HKS) was used to evaluate fecal incontinence in the individuals included in the study. Nottingham Health Profile (NSP) was used to assess the quality of life, and the Beck Depression Scale was used to assess the level of depression of parents of disabled individuals. Comparisons of quality of life and depression level according to the presence of incontinence were investigated by the Mann-Whitney U test. The relationships between IBSS and Holschneider score and other measurements were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient for normally distributed data and Spearman's rank number correlation coefficient for non-normally distributed data. As a result of the study, it was determined that the parent's quality of life decreased as the severity of fecal and urinary incontinence increased. There was no difference between the Nottingham health profile score and the Beck Depression Scale score of parents of children with and without incontinence. Although there was no difference between the depression and quality of life of the parents of disabled individuals with and without incontinence, it was observed that the quality of life of the parents decreased as the level of urinary and fecal incontinence increased. Therefore, we suggest that studies should be carried out to improve the quality of life of parents of disabled individuals with incontinence.
