In this study, the phenomenon of "sharenting," which refers to parents sharing their children's private information and photos on social media platforms, was investigated. The research utilized an Explanatory Sequential Design based on a mixed-methods approach. The quantitative data of the study were collected through the "Sharenting Scale," which was administered to 334 parents. The qualitative data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with 15 middle school students and the parents of middle school children. The quantitative data were analyzed using the SPSS 18 statistical software, while the qualitative data were analyzed using a combination of content analysis and descriptive analysis methods. As a result of the quantitative data analysis, it was found that parents most often fulfill their cognitive needs through sharenting and that more than half of the parents engage in sharenting at a moderate level. While no significant differences were found in sharenting scores based on parental role and educational level, significant differences were observed based on the number of children and the amount of time spent on social networks. The qualitative analysis included the perspectives of parents regarding their sharenting behaviors and the views of children who were subjected to these behaviors. The findings reveal the prevalence of sharenting behaviors, the motivations of parents, and how children are affected by this situation. Based on the results, it is suggested that future research focus on the more detailed examination of other factors influencing parents' behaviors in sharing their children on social media.
