Increasing Factors of Organizational Commitment of Medical Doctors and Nurses

Yıl 2011, Cilt: 13 Sayı: 3, 49 - 64, 01.09.2011

Öz

In order for organizational commitment to be increased, it is vital to know the factors that affect commitment and to take measures accordingly. Because there are numerous factors that affect organizational commitment, it is needed to determine the most effective factor(s) and to set relevant regulations in order to reach the optimum result in shorter time and with less cost. The aim of this study is to determine the factors that affect medical doctors’ and nurses’ commitment to the organization and to present suggestions on what can be done so as to increase their organizational commitment by considering the factors. With this aim, factor analysis has been applied to the data gathered from 766 participants (411 md.s and 355 nurses) who work at seven public and three medicine faculty hospitals with a capacity of 500 beds+ in Ankara. Also relationships between the best explanatory factor, associated with affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment of medical doctors and nurses, with some variables such as age, gender, education, seniority, studied institutions, and profession are analyzed.
