The satirical poems that have been composed to humiliate or ridicule the other person or people, have found a wide place for itself in all periods of Arabic poetry owing to the struggle for superiority in the nature of man. Satirical poems which while one of the main themes of classical ode in the early periods have become an independent genre in time, have constituted an important part of Andalusian poetry. The coexistence of different religious and ethnic elements in Andalusia and the political instability that started right after the conquest can be regarded as the two most important topics in the development of Andalusian satirical poetry. In this study, after providing information about satire in general, information about the situation of satirical poems before reaching Andalusia has been given. The limits of Andalusian satire are drawn from the conquest to the collapse of Andalusia and examples of different types of satire have been given. The examples which have been chosen from Andalusian satirical poems, are discussed under a total of five headings: individual or group according to the number of people satirized, and political, social and religious satire according to the subject of satire.
