CONVERGENCE ANALYSIS WITH FOURIER – TYPE UNIT ROOT TESTS IN TERMS OF RURAL VALUE ADDED IN TÜRKİYE AND EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES

Öz

This study investigates whether there has been convergence between Turkey and the European Union (EU) countries in terms of rural value added from 1995 to 2024. Annual data on rural value added(RVA) is used. Studies in the literature use RVA, ecological footprint(EF) and carbon emissions(CE) as variables. What distinguishes this study is the use of RVA as a variable. The Fourier Becker Enders Lee(FBEL) and the Fourier Ranjbar, Chang, Elmi, Lee & Sollis unit root test(URT) are applied in the study. Accordingly, based on the results of the two Fourier URT and the F test, stationarity is reported, and thus, Turkey appears to be converging with EU countries in terms of RVA. Consequently, it is believed that Turkey could catch up with EU countries in terms of RVA if certain conditions are met.

TÜRKİYE VE AVRUPA BİRLİĞİ ÜLKELERİNDE KIRSAL KATMA DEĞER AÇISINDAN FOURIER TİPİ BİRİM KÖK TESTLERİYLE YAKINSAMA ANALİZİ

Öz

Çalışmada, 1995 yılından 2024 yılına kadar Türkiye ile Avrupa Birliği(AB) ülkeleri arasında kırsal katma değer bakımından yakınsama olup olmadığı belirtilmektedir. Kırsal katma değerin yıllık verileri kullanılmaktadır. Literatürde yapılan çalışmalarda, değişkenlerde kırsal katma değer, karbon ayakizi ve karbon emisyonu kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Mevcut çalışmayı farklı kılan husus, değişken olarak kırsal katma değerin kullanılmasıdır. Çalışmada, Fourier Becker Enders Lee birim kök testi ve Fourier Ranjbar, Chang, Elmi, Lee & Sollis birim kök testi uygulanmaktadır. Buna göre, yapılan iki Fourier birim kök testi sonucuna ve F testleri sonucuna göre, durağanlık raporlandığı için Türkiye’nin kırsal katma değer açısından AB ülkelerine yakınsadığı görülmektedir. Sonuç olarak, Türkiye’nin belirli şartları sağlaması halinde AB ülkelerini kırsal katma değer açısından yakalayabileceği düşünülmektedir.
