Complementary and Alternative Treatment Approaches Used to Manage the Menoposal Symptoms

Yıl 2020, Cilt: 2 Sayı: 2, 80 - 87, 20.06.2020

Öz

One of the most important periods of women in their lives, which has an important place in society, is the menopause period. In this period, vasomotor, psychosocial and physical changes due to the decrease in estrogen level cause women to have some problems. Increasing the time spent in the menopausal period and the negative effects of the menopausal health problems on the quality of life of the woman make the treatment inevitable. Many women turn to complementary and alternative therapies (CAM) due to the side effects of pharmacological treatments. It has been observed that women use many CAM methods in coping with menopausal symptoms, exercise, yoga, acupuncture, massage, herbal treatments etc. and there are different study results showing the effect of these methods. Therefore, this review was conducted to evaluate the complementary and alternative treatment methods used to cope with the symptoms seen during the menopause.
