Tiroid Hastalıkları ve D Vitamini Arasındaki İlişki

Öz

D vitamini, vücutta özellikle kalsiyum-fosfor dengesinin ve kemik sağlığının korunmasını sağlayan, yağda çözünen bir vitamindir. Yapılan son çalışmalarda sadece kemik ve kalsiyum metabolizmasında görev almadığı, özellikle bağışıklık hücreleri üzerine önemli fonksiyonları olduğu bildirilmiş ve bir immünomodülatör olarak tanımlanmıştır. D vitamini, D vitamini reseptörüne (VDR) bağlanarak etki gösterir. VDR, başta bağışıklık sistemi ve tiroid bezi olmak üzere bazı doku ve organlarda bulunduğu için birçok hastalık D vitamini seviyelerinin düşüklüğü ile ilişkilendirilmiştir. Graves hastalığı, Hashimato tiroiditi gibi sık görülen tiroid hastalıklarının gelişimden otoimmün faktörler sorumludur. Çalışmalarda kanser hücrelerinde kalsitriol ve VDR ile bağlantılı enzimlere odaklanılmıştır. Bu nedenle D vitamini eksikliği Haşimato tiroiditi, Graves hastalığı ve tiroid kanseri ile ilişkilendirilmektedir. Bu derlemenin amacı da D vitamini ve tiroid hastalıkları arasındaki ilişkiyi güncel çalışmalarla ortaya koymaktır.
