Evaluating Entrepreneurship Performance Using Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Methods from a Sustainability Perspective

Öz

Sustainability-focused entrepreneurship requires the integrated consideration of economic growth and environmental responsibility objectives. In this study, entrepreneurial performance was analyzed using multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. Financial and environmental indicators, including the number of newly registered businesses, ease of doing business score, gross domestic product (GDP), greenhouse gas emissions, and renewable energy consumption, were used in the analysis. The data were compiled from the World Bank's official database, and 13 countries from the G20, with no data constraints, were included in the study. In the study, the criterion weights were first determined using the Entropy method. These weights were then used in the TODIM and VIKOR methods to obtain the rankings of entrepreneurship performance for the countries. The analysis results show that both methods produced similar outputs. In the TODIM method, the United Kingdom showed the highest performance, while Brazil had the lowest performance. In the VIKOR method, depending on different q values, Japan, Mexico, and the Russian Federation were found to have the lowest performance. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis was conducted to test the validity of the method, and the findings revealed that both methods provided reliable and consistent results.
