Rehabilitation of the Edentulous Mandible Implant Supported Fixed Prosthesis: A Case Report

Objective: Conventional complete dentures, implant-supported removable, and fixed dentures are used in the treatment of complete edentulous mandible. The ideal approach of prosthetic dentistry is to treat complete edentulous cases with fixed restoration. It has been observed that the treatment of edentulous jawbone with implants significantly reduces the discomfort of the prostheses and increases the quality of life of the patients by increasing the chewing function. This case report describes the rehabilitation of a patient whose mandible edentulous and his own teeth in the maxilla. Case: 57 years old male patient was admitted to our clinic with a complaint of complete edentulism. Considering the patient's expectations, it was decided to apply an implant-supported fixed prosthesis after the clinical and radiological examination. In this case, 5 implants were placed in the lower jaw and a fixed prosthesis was cemented. The fixed prosthesis was placed on the existing teeth previously prepared in the upper jaw. Conclusion: With this treatment procedure, the prosthetic treatment that meets the aesthetic and functional expectations of the patient is completed. After 3 and 9 months, it was observed that there was no prosthetic complication in the intra-oral examination and the patient was very satisfied with the prosthesis.

Tam Dişsiz Mandibulanın İmplant Destekli Sabit Protezle Rehabilitasyonu: Olgu Sunumu

Öz

Amaç: Alt çene dişsizlik tedavisinde geleneksel tam protezler, implant destekli hareketli ve sabit protezler kullanılmaktadır. Protetik diş hekimliğinin ideal yaklaşımı tam dişsiz vakaların sabit restorasyon ile tedavi edilmesidir. Dişsiz çene kemiğinin implantla tedavisi protezlerin rahatsızlığını önemli ölçüde azaltması ve çiğneme işlevini arttırmasıyla hastaların yaşam kalitesini arttırdığı görülmüştür. Bu olgu sunumunda alt çenesi tam dişsiz, üst çenesinde kendi dişleri bulunan hastanın rehabilitasyonu anlatılmakatadır. Olgu: 57 yaşında erkek hasta alt çene tam dişsizlik şikayetiyle kliniğimize başvurdu. Hastanın beklentileri göz önüne alınarak, yapılan klinik ve radyolojik muayesi sonrasında implant destekli sabit protez uygulanmasına karar verildi. Hastanın alt çenesine 5 adet implant yerleştirildi ve simante sabit protez yapıldı. Üst çeneye daha önceden prepare edilmiş mevcut dişlerin üzerine sabit protez yapıldı. Sonuç: Bu tedavi prosedürü ile hastanın estetik ve fonksiyonel beklentilerini karşılayan protetik tedavisi tamamlandı. 3 ve 9 ay sonraki kontrolde ağız içi muayenede herhangi bir problem olmadığı ve hastanın memnun bir şekilde protezini kullandığı gözlemlendi.
