The case of bezoar.

Year 2016, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 71 - 73, 01.06.2016

Abstract

Bezoars are solid mass of indigestible material accumulating in the gastrointestinal tract. Patients are commonly asymptomatic but they may come to emergency deparments with acute intestinal obstruction symptoms such as nausea vomiting and abdominal pain. They are usuall in patients with abnormal gastrointestinal system anatomy due to surgery, impairment of gastric emptying or mental retardation. Rapid diagnostic tests should be ordered and then general surgery consultation should be done. Endoscopic therapy with fragmentation or enzymatic dissolution has been reported with varying degrees of success. Surgery is indicated when conservative therapy with chemical dissolution or endoscopic therapy is unsuccessful. Herein, we report a patient with gastric bezoar who was treated with surgery.

BEZOAR OLGU SUNUMU

Year 2016, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 71 - 73, 01.06.2016

Abstract

Bezoarlar, sindirilemeyen maddelerin gastrointestinal sistemde oluşturduğu kitlelerdir.
