With the rapid development of the digital age, child news and crimes against children have started to appear frequently in the Internet media and social media. Given the power of Internet news to reach more readers, these crimes have become more visible to society than in the past due to the high newsworthiness of child sexual abuse and harassment crimes. This situation raises the question of whether the crimes of child abuse and harassment in the media act by the principle of children's rights and the best interests of the child. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current situation of these crimes and their presentation in the Internet media by analyzing the news about child abuse and harassment crimes reflected in the Internet media in 2023. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that girls in the 7-11 age group were more likely to be abused by boys in their close social circle. Although it was noted that the news reports did not include the child's name and picture, it was observed that most of the news reports included explicit information down to the small county, school, or neighborhood where the child lived. This situation not only leads to the labeling of the child and the family but also shows that the principle of confidentiality of the victimized child is violated. In this context, as a result of this research, recommendations have been made to take practical steps in the fight against child abuse.
