Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine whether the level of compassion
perceived by the employees in the hotel businesses affects their organizational
commitment. For this purpose, data were collected from three, four- and
five-star hotel employees operating in Çukurova Region. It was found that
perceived compassion level varies according to education level, hotel ownership
and working time in the sector. Accordingly, the level of perceived compassion
increases as the level of education increases. The perceived compassion of the
employees in the chain hotels is higher than that of the single-person hotels.
Again, as the working time increases, the level of perceived compassion
decreases. In terms of perceived compassion level, there was no significant
difference according to gender, age and working time in the same hotel. In the
study, it was found that perceived compassion level in the work environment was
positively correlated with affective and normative commitment and also
positively affects organizational commitment.
