Sporda Kariyer Sonlanmasının Bibliyometrik Açıdan Dünü ve Bugünü

Öz

Amaç: Bu araştırmada sporda kariyer sonlanması üzerine bibliyometrik analiz yapılarak literatürdeki araştırmaların tarihsel süreçteki genel eğilimlerinin görseller yardımıyla yorumlanması amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Araştırmada R uygulaması aracılığıyla Web of Science (WoS) veri tabanından elde edilen betimleyici bilgiler doğrultusunda sporda kariyer sonlanması üzerine yapılan araştırmalar ile ilgili bibliyometrik analiz gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sporda kariyer sonlanması araştırmaları incelenirken nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel analiz çerçevesinde doküman incelemesi tekniğine başvurulmuştur. Araştırmada hem tanımlayıcı bibliyometrik hem de değerlendirici bibliyometrikler sunulmuştur.
Bulgular: Araştırma bulgularına göre 1992-2024 yılları arasında spor bilimleri alanında sporda kariyer sonlanması üzerine toplam 68 araştırmanın olduğu ve yapılan araştırmaların 193 yazar tarafından üretildiği tespit edilmiştir.
Sonuç: Sporda kariyer sonlanması ile ilgili yapılan araştırmaların tarihsel süreçte inişli çıkışlı olduğu, en fazla yayın yapan yazarlar sıralamasında beş yayın ile Erpic, Lavallee, Stephan ve Wylleman’ın ilk sırayı paylaştığı görülmektedir. Araştırmalarda en fazla ele alınan kelimelerin sport (spor), identity (kimlik), retirement (emeklilik) ve career termination (kariyer sonlanması) olduğu belirtilmiştir.

Bibliometrics Analysis of Career Termination in Sports: Past and Present

Öz

Purpose: The present study aims to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis on career termination in the field of sports, with the objective of identifying and interpreting the historical and thematic trends in the literatüre through visual mapping techniques.
Method: The study employed a bibliometric approach based on descriptive data retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) database, analyzed via the R programming language. Document analysis, a qualitative research technique within the framework of descriptive analysis, was used to systematically examine scholarly publications on career termination in sports. Both descriptive and evaluative bibliometric indicators were utilized to provide a holistic overview of the field.
Results: The findings revealed that between 1992 and 2024, a total of 68 publications addressing career termination in sport in sports were identified, authored by 193 researchers.
Conclusion: The temporal distribution ıf the publications indicates a fluctuating pattern over the years. The most prolific contributors to the field were Erpic, Lavallee, Stephan, and Wylleman, each with five publivations. The most frequently recurring keywords across the analyzed studies were “sport,” “identitity,” “retirement,” and “career termination,” highlighting the core thematic areas of the field.
