Paris Barış Konferansı Öncesinde Haim Weizmann-Şerif Faysal Görüşmeleri ve Faysal’ın Konferansta Filistin Hakkındaki Talepleri

Öz

İngiltere, 1763’ten itibaren Hindistan deniz yolu üzerinde siyasi, ekonomik hakimiyet kurmak, devam ettirmek amacıyla hareket etmiştir. Filistin, bu hat üzerinde bulunan Süveyş kanalının güvenliği için önemli bir yer tutmaktaydı. Bu sebeple İngiltere açısından her daim kontrol edilmeliydi. Birinci Dünya Savaşının hemen sonrasında Ortadoğu’da, Filistin’de yaşanan süreçte tam bir karmaşa hakimdi. Bunun temel nedeni İngiltere’nin Osmanlı Devleti’nin yıkılması hedefinde birleştirdiği müttefiklerine bölgeyi vaat etmesiydi. Fransa, Şerif Hüseyin ailesi ve Siyonistler vaatleri kendi istekleri doğrusunda anlamaktaydı. Savaş ertesinde ABD Başkanı Wilson’un ilkeleri etrafında toplanan Paris Barış Konferansında da İngiltere’nin bölgedeki amaçlarına zıt bir süreç işleme ihtimali vardı. İngiltere’nin, hem vaatlerini hem de barış konferansı kararlarını kendi stratejisi çerçevesinde yönlendirmesi gerekmekteydi. Bu nedenle Filistin-Suriye hattında İngiltere mandaterliğini kabul eden taleplerin konferansta dile getirilmesi elzemdi. Bu çerçevede İngiltere, Haim Weizmann ve Şerif Faysal’ı bir araya getirmiştir. Ardından her iki tarafı konferansa davet etmiş ve onlara sunum yaptırmıştır. Bu makalede her iki taraf arasında yapılan görüşmeye giden süreç ve Şerif Faysal’ın konferansta Filistin özelindeki talepleri incelenecektir.

Before the Paris Peace Conference, Haim Weizmann- Sharif Faisal Meetings and Faisal’s Demands on Palestine at the Conference

Öz

Britain has acted to establish and maintain political and economic dominance on the Indian sea route since 1763. Palestine held an important place for the security of the Suez Canal on this line. For this reason, it should always be controlled for England. In the period, immediately after the First World War, there was a complete chaos in the Middle East, in Palestine. The main reason for this was that Britain promised the region to its allies, which it united in the aim of the destruction of the Ottoman Empire. France, the Sharif Huseyin family and the Zionists understood the promises according to their own wishes. In the Paris Peace Conference, which gathered around the principles of US President Wilson after the war, there was the possibility of a process contrary to Britain's goals in the region. Britain had to guide both its promises and peace conference decisions within the framework of its own strategy. For this reason, it was essential to express the demands that accepted the British mandate on the Palestine-Syria line at the conference. In this framework, Britain brought together Haim Weizmann and Sharif Faisal and made their agreements. Then he invited both parties to the conference and made a presentation. In this article, the process leading to the meeting between both parties and the demands of Sharif Faisal in the conference will be examined.
