Dış Ticaretin Ekonomik Büyümeye Etkisi: G-20 Ülkeleri Örneği

Öz

1990’lı yılların başından itibaren giderek yaygınlaşan küreseleşme, dünya ekonomilerinin tamamını birbirine entegre etmiştir. İktisat politikalarının temel amacı ulusal ekonomiyi canlandırmak, büyümeyi sürdürülebilir hale getirmek olmakla birlikte, bu amacın gerçekleşme kanallarından biri de dış ticarettir. Dış ticaretin ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki uzun vadeli etkisi İçsel Büyüme Modelleri ile açıklanmaktadır. 2008 küresel krizinin ardından başlayan dış ticaret ve ekonomik büyümedeki istikrarsızlıklar günümüzde de devam etmektedir. Bu durumdan hareketle dış ticaretin ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki uzun dönemli etkisinin tespit edilmesi oldukça önemli bir hale gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, G-20 üyesi ülkeler için 1990-2019 yılları arasında dış ticaretin uzun dönemde ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisi dinamik panel veri yöntemiyle tahmin edilmiştir. Çalışmada verisi bulunabilen 16 G-20 ülkesi kullanılmıştır. Analizler sonucu elde edilen bulgular, 16 G-20 ülkesi için ihracatın ekonomik büyümeyi etkilemediğini, ithalatın ise ekonomik büyüme üzerinde pozitif etkili olduğunu göstermektedir.

The Effect of Foreign Trade on Economic Growth: The Case of G-20

Öz

Globalization, which has become increasingly widespread since the early 1990s, has integrated all of the world's economies into each other. The main goal of economic policies is to revive the national economy, to make growth sustainable, but one of the channels of realization of this goal is foreign trade. The long-term impact of foreign trade on economic growth is explained by Internal Growth Models. The instability in foreign trade and economic growth that began after the global crisis of 2008 continues today. Based on this situation, it has become quite important to determine the long-term impact of foreign trade on economic growth. In this study, the effect of foreign trade on economic was estimated by dynamic panel data method for the G-20 member countries between 1990 and 2019. In the study, 16 G-20 countries with available data were used. The results obtained as a result of the analyzes show that exports for 16 G-20 countries do not affect economic growth, while imports have a positive effect on economic growth.
