Current Status In Gynecologic Oncology Nursing

The incidence of gynecologic cancer in our country is increasing. It is a well-known fact that just as the treatment these patients receive plays an important role in their improvement and survival, so the nursing care they receive positively affects their improvement, survival and, most important of all, their quality of life. Nurses providing care for gynecologic oncology patients should do so considering their needs and in parallel with the innovations in the literature. Since the patients diagnosed with gynecological cancer experience significant changes in their female-specific roles, they need a special approach. Therefore, there exists a need to find answers to such questions as “Who should be employed as a gynecologic oncology nurse?” and “What kinds of educational qualifications should they have?”. This study aims to follow the developments in the field of gynecologic oncology nursing in our country, to enable the nurses working in this field to realize that they should improve their patient-care techniques and that in which areas they should gain proficiency. The study also aims to determine what the other health disciplines in gynecologic oncology team expect from nurses.

JİNEKOLOJİK ONKOLOJİ HEMŞİRELİĞİNDE GÜNCEL DURUM

Öz

Ülkemizde jinekolojik onkoloji olguları giderek artmaktadır. Bu grup hastaların aldıkları tedavinin iyileşme, yaşam süresini uzatma üzerine etkisi ne kadar önemli ise aldıkları hemşirelik bakımının da iyileşme, yaşam süresinin uzaması, hepsinden de önemlisi yaşam kalitesi üzerine olumlu etkilerinin olduğu bilinmektedir. Jinekolojik onkoloji hastalarına bakım veren hemşireler, kadınların gereksinimlerine uygun ve literatürdeki yeniliklere paralel olarak bakım vermelidir. Jinekolojik kanser tanısı alan hastalar, kadınlık rollerinde önemli değişimler yaşadıkları için özel bir yaklaşıma gereksinim duymaktadırlar. Bu nedenle jinekolojik onkoloji hemşiresi kim olmalıdır? Ne gibi eğitim donanımlarına sahip olmalıdır? gibi sorulara yanıt aranmalıdır.Bu derlemenin amacı ülkemizdeki jinekolojik onkoloji hemşireliği alanındaki gelişmeleri görmek, bu alanda çalışan hemşirelerin hasta bakımını geliştirmeleri ve hangi alanlarda yeterlilik kazanmaları gerektiğini fark etmelerini sağlamak, ayrıca jinekolojik onkoloji ekibi içindeki diğer sağlık disiplinlerinin hemşirelerden beklentilerinin belirlenmesine katkı sağlamaktır.
