Kilo korkusu ölçeği kısa formunun psikometrik özelliklerinin incelenmesi

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Bacon vd., (2001) tarafından geliştirilmiş olan Kilo Korkusu Ölçeği Kısa Formunu (KKÖ) Türkçeye uyarlamak ve ölçeğin psikometrik özelliklerini inceleyerek ulusal literatüre katkı sağlamaktır. Araştırma, Türkiye’nin farklı illerinde öğrenim gören 229 üniversite öğrencisinden oluşan çalışma grubu ile yürütülmüştür. Doğrulayıcı faktör analizi (DFA) sonuçları, özgün formda 14 maddeden oluşan tek faktörlü yapının Türkçe formda 13 maddeyle temsil edildiğini göstermiştir. DFA sonucunda faktör yükü ve madde-toplam korelasyonu düşük olan bir madde çıkarılmıştır. Ölçeğin iç tutarlılık katsayısı 0,92 olarak hesaplanmıştır ve tüm madde-toplam korelasyonları anlamlı bulunmuştur. Geçerlik analizlerinde, orijinal çalışmada beden imajı ve benlik saygısı ile ilişkiler üzerinden yapı geçerliğine dair kanıtlar sunulmuştur. Türkçe formda ise, ölçüt bağıntılı geçerlik değerlendirmesinde katılımcıların kendi kilosu dışsal bir ölçüt olarak kullanılmıştır. Analizler, KKÖ puanlarının katılımcıların bildirdikleri kilo ile anlamlı düzeyde ilişkili olduğunu ortaya koymuş ve bu bulgu ölçeğin ölçüt geçerliğine ek destek sağlamıştır. Bulgular, KKÖ’nün Türkçe formunun geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğunu göstermektedir.

Psychometric evaluation of the Turkish adaptation of the fat phobia scale- short form

Öz

This study aims to adapt the Fat Phobia Scale - Short Form (FPS) developed by Bacon et al., (2001) into Turkish and to contribute to the national literature by examining the scale’s psychometric properties. For this purpose, the research was conducted with a sample of 229 university students studying in different provinces of Turkey. Results of the confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the original one-factor structure comprising 14 items was represented by 13 items in the Turkish version. One item was removed from the model due to its low factor loading and weak item-total correlation. The internal consistency of the scale was found to be high, and all item-total correlations were statistically significant. In the validity analyses, the original study provided evidence of construct validity through relationships with body image and self-esteem. In the Turkish version, participants’ self-reported body weight was used as an external criterion to assess criterion-related validity. The analyses revealed that Fat Phobia Scale (FPS) scores were significantly associated with participants’ reported weight, providing additional support for the criterion validity of the scale. Overall, the findings provide evidence that the Turkish version of the scale is a valid and reliable instrument.
