ANSWERING THE QUESTION: WHAT IS ENLIGHTENMENT?

Öz

This study includes the translation and than the original text of Immanuel Kant's Beantwortung der Frage: Was ist Aufklärung?, one of the reference texts of the Enlightenment.
In the translation, the philosophy that Kant, as the author of the work, used in approaching the act of writing was preserved. For example, Latin expressions are quoted verbatim, but no Turkish version is given in parallel with the approach in the original text. On the other hand, the fact that some expressions seem incomprehensible at first glance is due to the form of the expressions in the original text. There are expressions in the original text that are difficult to understand at first glance.
As a result, the aim of this study is to eliminate translations of uncertain origin and compilation that cause hesitation even about citation, and to contribute to the literature by presenting a study of this nature to the benefit of users in a source related to the field with the effort it deserves.

“AYDINLANMA NEDİR?” SORUSUNUN YANITI

Bu çalışmada, Aydınlanma’nın referans metinlerinden olan Immanuel Kant’ın Beantwortung der Frage: Was ist Aufklärung? çalışmasının çevirisi ve ardından özgün metni yer almaktadır.
Çeviride, çalışmanın yazarı olarak Kant’ın yazım edimine yaklaşımda başvurduğu felsefe korunmuştur. Örneğin Latince ifadeler aynen aktarılmış, özgün metindeki yaklaşıma paralel olarak herhangi bir şekilde Türkçesi verilmemiştir. Diğer taraftan bazı ifadelerin ilk bakışta anlaşılmaz görünmesi, ifadelerin özgün metindeki şeklinden ileri gelmektedir. Özgün metinde de ilk bakışta anlaşılması güç ifadeler mevcuttur.
Sonuç olarak bu çalışmanın amacı, atıf konusunda dahi tereddüt oluşturan kaynağı belirsiz ve derleme çevirilerin bertarafı, bu nitelikte bir çalışmanın hak ettiği değerde çabayla alana dair bir kaynakta kullanıcıların faydasına sunularak literatüre katkı sağlamasıdır.
