Breast milk is a unique food that has many benefits for both baby and mother. Suchan important food source can discontinued unnecessarily sometimes by unconscious health care workers in this regard, sometimes by families with the concern that the drugs were used by the mother for various reasons may transition to the breast milk and aversely affect the baby. However, there are many factors that determine the transition of drugs to the breast milk and most of the drugs have not been reported to have any adverse effects in the neonatal period. In this article, it is aimed to raise awareness of health care workers about the unnecessary discontinuation of breast milk by reviewing theuse of the drugs in breastfeeding mothers and their effects on newborns.
