Use of Buzzy® and Virtual Reality to Reduce Pain, Fear, and Anxiety During Prick Testing

Prick Testi Uygulaması Sırasında Oluşan Ağrı, Korku ve Kaygıyı Azaltmada Buzzy® ve Sanal Gerçeklik Kullanımı

Öz

Tıbbi prosedürel işlemlere maruz kalan çocuklar sıklıkla ağrı korku ve kaygı yaşamaktadır. Ağrı korku ve kaygı birbiri ile ilişkili duygular olup çocuğun fiziksel ruhsal ve biyolojik bütünlüğünü olumsuz etkilemektedir. Ağrı yalnız fiziksel bir uyarı ile kalmayıp, çocuğun korku ve kaygı duygularının tetiklenmesine neden olan döngüsel bir durumdur. Prosedürel işlemlerden biri olan ve alerjik hastalıkların tanılanmasında kullanılan deri prick testi çocuklarda ağrı korku ve kaygıya neden olmaktadır. Minimal invaziv bir işlem olan bu test çocukların bilinmeyene karşı kaygı duymalarına ve acı beklentisine bağlı korku yaşamalarına neden olmaktadır. Çocuklarda korku ve kaygı hissedilmesi muhtemel ağrının var olandan daha fazla algılanmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu durum çocukların sağlık hizmetinden kaçınmalarına, tanı ve tedavi işlemlerine direnç göstermelerine ve hastane fobisi oluşturmalarına neden olmaktadır. Çocuklarda ağrı korku ve kaygının uzun vadeli olumsuz etkileri göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, uygulanacak prosedürel işlemlerde atravmatik bakım ilkelerinin titizlikle uygulanması önemlidir. Geleneksel olarak başvurulan farmakolojik yöntemlerin yan etkileri nedeniyle non-farmakolojik yöntemlerin kullanımına yönelik ilgi artmaktadır. Bu kapsamda çocuğun dikkatinin ağrı verici uyaranlardan uzaklaştırılması hedeflenmektedir. Literatürde prosedürel ağrıyı, korku ve kaygıyı azaltmada Buzzy® ve sanal gerçeklik uygulamaları öne çıkan non-farmakolojik yöntemlerdendir. Ancak alerji tanılamasında sık kullanılan prick testi özelinde sanal gerçeklik uygulamalarının etkilerini inceleyen sınırlı sayıda çalışma bulunmuş olup; Buzzy® ile ilgili herhangi bir çalışmaya rastlanmamıştır. Bu çalışma ile prick testi sırasında ağrı korku ve kaygı yaşayan çocuklarda sanal gerçeklik ve Buzzy® kullanımı ve etkilerinin karşılaştırmalı olarak araştırılması planlanmıştır.
