Öz

Yüksek iktisadi potansiyele sahip bir sektör olarak turizm, özellikle gelişmekte olan ülkeler için ekonomik sorunlarla mücadelede önemli aksiyon araçlarındandır. Fakat bu sektör aynı zamanda oldukça kırılgan, iç ve dış etkilere açık ve çok aktörlü bir faaliyet alanıdır. Bu yönüyle bir toplumdaki özgürlüklerin boyutu ve durumu, özellikle turistlerin algılarını ve tercihlerini etkileme potansiyeline sahip olmakta ve turizm gelirleri ile turist sayısı üzerinde uzun dönemde bir etki yaratabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye ekonomisinin 1995-2018 döneminde özgürlüklerin, turizm sektörü için iki önemli değişken olan dış turizm geliri ve turist sayısı üzerindeki kısa/uzun dönem etkileri ARDL sınır testi yaklaşımı yardımıyla ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Ulaşılan sonuçlar, analize konu dönem için Türkiye’de bireysel ve politik özgürlüklerin turizm gelirleri ve turist sayısı açısından belirleyici göstergeler olduğu yönündedir.
