The unethical practice of using someone else's ideas, methods, outputs, or words without explicitly citing the original author and source is known as plagiarism.
Types of Plagiarism
Full Plagiarism: | Partial Plagiarism: | Self-Plagiarism: |
Previously published content without any changes to the text, idea, and grammar is considered full plagiarism. It involves presenting exact text from a source as one’s own. | If the content is a mixture of multiple different sources, where the author has extensively rephrased text, then it is known as partial plagiarism. | When an author reuses complete or portions of their pre-published research, then it is known as self-plagiarism. Complete self-plagiarism is a case when an author republishes their own previously published work in a new journal. |
MSAEN pledged that he would treat the editorial board with the utmost respect and that he would take plagiarism extremely seriously.
Plagiarism Action Plan and Measures of the Journal
The publication respects intellectual property rights and seeks to safeguard and publicize the authors' original works. Having plagiarized content in articles does violate the research and originality standards. As a result, it is expected of all authors submitting articles to the journal to uphold ethical standards and refrain from any type of plagiarism. A submitted or published paper is first reviewed by the journal's Publication Board if it is thought to contain plagiarism. Then the work is reviewed by the Editorial Board. The journal then gets in touch with the author(s) and requests that they provide their justifications within 15 days. The journal will get in touch with the linked university and request that the investigation be conducted if the author(s) do not respond within the allotted period.
If plagiarism is discovered in an article that has already been published, the journal will take the following serious actions:
• The journal will immediately contact the university to which the author(s) are affiliated in order to take final action against the related author.
• The journal will remove the PDF copy of the published article from the website, will remove the published article from the issue file, and will disable all links to the published article. The phrase "Plagiarized Article" will be added to the title of the published article.
• For the following two years, the journal will disable the author's account and reject all of their additional submissions.
For new research that is submitted to the journal, the author advises submitting a similarity report. Pre-checked articles can be subjected to plagiarism scanning again by using the iThenticate program.
If plagiarism/self-plagiarism is detected, the authors are informed. An article with a high overall similarity rate (maximum 30%) may be rejected or sent back to the author to reduce the similarity rate.
Note: Readers can file a complaint if they find a mistake or inaccuracy in a published article by sending an email to eevrenkara@duzce.edu.tr.
