Cost Analysis of Membrane Capacitive Deionization and Comparison of Treatment Costs of Desalination Processes

Öz

Today, one of the most critical issues is the supply of drinking and utility water, which is the most basic need for human beings to be healthy, reliable, and economical. With social and economic growth, increased living standards also raise the drinking and utility water requirements per capita. On the other hand, the total amount of water in the world is 1.4 million km3, 97.5% of which is salt water in the oceans. Only 0.5% of the remaining water is available, and more than 90% is located at the poles and underground. For this reason, desalination processes are of great importance. However, the most significant handicap in desalination processes is that they are not economically sustainable. The membrane capacitive deionization Process is an effective method to remove ions from water. It has advantages such as low cost, flexible use, and low secondary pollution. In this study, the cost analysis of the MCDI process in desalination from the water will be made by comparing the treatment costs of desalination processes.
