REFLECTIVE THINKING AND ITS TEACHING

Abstract

As a result of rapid increase in knowledge generation in recent decades, individuals are required to obtain, manipulate, apply and even contribute knowledge generation by employing higher order thinking skills. As a respond to the recent changes, educational systems should contribute to this reformation by supporting students to gain higher order thinking skills. In this study, reflective thinking and its implications for teaching and learning were examined by compiling related literature. An illustrative activity for 8th grade science class was also developed based on the theories behind reflection and reflective thinking for teachers and other concerned individuals
