STUDY OF TEACHER VIEWS TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEMS OF PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION IN SIIRT

Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the problems of pre-school education in the province of Siirt and to make implications regarding the programme, control mechanisms, working regulations, personnel rights, physical environment, administration and administrators, class managements, staff, finance, parents, self-awareness and self-improvement. A questionnaire has been designed by the researchers of this study to analyze and evaluate the opinions of pre-school teachers on “the problems of pre-school education in Siirt”. The subjects of this research were 180 pre-school teachers working in state and private educational institutions in the province of Siirt. These pre-school institutions function under the provision of the Turkish Ministry of Education or the Society for the protection of Children. Application of the questionnaire was carried out in April and May in the spring term of 2003-2004 academic year. When the findings of the research are examined, it is seen that the pre-school teachers having participated in the research regarded the following issues to be “Very Important”. 1) 77.8 % of the participant teachers considered the parents very important. 2) 71.7 of them stated that physical environment was very important. 3) 65.6 % of the teachers believed that the programme was a matter of the greatest importance to them. The participant teachers said that the following issues were “Not Important” when the problems of preschool education were taken into consideration. 1) 2.8 % of the teachers stated that administration and administrators and class management were not important at all. 2) 2.2 % of them believed that spreadind the pre-school throughout the nation was not important. 3) 1.7 % of them thought that finance was not important. 36.5 % of the teachers stated that they would mostly favour an in-service training course to be organized about the “Techniques of Knowing The Child”.

Siirt İlinde Okul Öncesi Egitim Sorunlarinin Tespitine Yönelik Ögretmen Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi eğitimin, program, denetim, mevzuat ve özlük hakları, fiziksel çevre, yönetim ve yöneticiler, sınıf yönetimi, personel, finansman, anne-babalar, kendini gerçekleştirme ve yenileme açısından Siirt ilindeki sorunlarını belirleyerek öneriler geliştirmektir. Araştırmada, okul öncesi eğitimi öğretmenlerinin, Siirt ilinde okul öncesi eğitimin sorunlarına ilişkin görüşlerini öğrenmek amacıyla, araştırmacılar tarafından bir anket formu geliştirilmiştir. Siirt ili ve ilçelerinde Millî Eğitim Bakanlığına ve Sosyal Hizmetler ve Çocuk Esirgeme Kurumuna bağlı resmî ve özel okul öncesi eğitim kurumlarında görev yapmakta olan 180 okul öncesi eğitim öğretmeni, araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Uygulama, 2003-2004 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar dönemi içerisinde nisan-mayıs ayları arasında yürütülmüştür Araştırmanın bulguları incelendiğinde araştırmaya katılan okul öncesi eğitimi öğretmenlerinin “Çok Önemli” gördükleri sorunlar sırasıyla, %77.8 ile Anne-Babalar 1. sırada, %71.7 ile Fiziksel Çevre 2. sırada, %65.6 ile Program 3. sırada yer almaktadır. Öğretmenlerin “Hiç Önemli” görmedikleri sorunlar sırasıyla, %2.8 ile Yönetim ve Yöneticiler ve Sınıf Yönetimi 1. sırada, %2.2 ile Yaygınlaşma 2. sırada, %1.7 ile Finansman 3. sırada yer almaktadır. Öğretmenler, 1. sırada katılmak istedikleri Hizmet-içi eğitimin konusu olarak %36.5 ile Çocuğu Tanıma Teknikleri’ni belirtmişlerdir.
