Abstract

The purpose of student-centered instruction that has been adopted by the Ministry of National Education of Turkey is to help students develop self-learning skills. In this model students should be able to explore their skills, evaluate themselves and express their ideas. In a school in which student-centered instruction is used, portfolio assessment is an important evaluation technique that shows students’ learning development process. Until recently, educators have used psychometric evaluation approaches that focus on the product and impressionist approach that focuses on the process. However, portfolio assessment with an eclectic approach, proposed as an alternative evaluation technique, focuses on both products and processes. The purpose of this study is to investigate 5th and 8th grade students’ views and perspectives on portfolio assessment. Based on a statistical analysis, it was found in this study that students believe that portfolios should be used for measurement and evaluation of students’ skills and help students discover their own learning style. On the other hand, students complained that preparing portfolios consumes much time. Eight grade students indicated that they do not have much time to prepare for national standardized tests because of preparing portfolios.

Ürün Seçki Dosyaları Hakkındaki Ögrenci Görüşleri (Erzurum İli Örnegi)

Öz

Son yıllarda ülkemizde MEB tarafından pilot olarak uygulanmaya başlayan öğrenci merkezli eğitimin en öncelikli amacı; öğrencinin, kendi kendine öğrenmeyi keşfetmesine yardımcı olmaktır. Bu modelde öğrenci kendini değerlendirebilmeli, kendini yeterince tanıyabilmeli ve düşüncelerini rahatlıkla ifade edebilmelidir. Öğrenci merkezli bir okulda ürün seçki dosyası, öğrencinin bireysel öğrenme gelişimini, kendisine, öğretmene ve veliye göstermesi bakımından önemli bir yere sahiptir Son yıllara kadar eğitimciler sonucun önemli olduğu psikometrik yaklaşımı ve sürecin baskın olduğu izlenimci yaklaşımı kullanmaktadırlar. Bunlara alternatif olarak ileri sürülen ürün seçki dosyaları (portfolio) eklektik bir yaklaşımla hem süreci hem de sonucu değerlendirme amacını taşımaktadır. Bu bağlamda yapılan bu çalışmanın en temel amacı, öğrenci merkezli eğitimde temele alınan ölçme değerlendirme yaklaşımlarından biri olan ürün seçki dosyaları hakkında ilköğretim 5. ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin görüş ve düşüncelerini değerlendirmektir. Araştırmada anket yoluyla toplanan veriler istatistiksel işlemlerle değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, öğrencilerin genel olarak ürün seçki dosyalarının; ölçme ve değerlendirme amaçlı kullanılması, öğrencilerinin kendi kendilerinin öğrenme biçimlerini tanımalarına yardımcı olması, konularında olumlu görüş bildirdikleri; ancak ürün seçki dosyalarının hazırlanmasının fazla zaman alması ve sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinin fen lisesi sınavları nedeniyle hazırlanma süresinin uzunluğundan şikayetçi oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
