Frank Gehry and The Language of Gehry Architecture
Abstract
The starting point of the study is to reach the concept of "architectural language", resulting in "recognition", which is frequently used in the architectural profession. Considering that language is a general concept, it can be said that each discipline has its own unique language. Architects express their ideas by using the language of architectural representation, which is an artificial language. As a result of the change of this language due to many factors over time, the widely accepted architectural language of a small number of architects is formed. This study was designed to validate the hypothesis that "architects with international recognition have a distinct architectural language". Within the scope of the study, the internationally reknown architect Frank Gehry was examined. It is aimed to examine Gehry's data in the media and literature with the discourse analysis method and to reveal his architectural language. The results obtained confirm the hypothesis of the study.
