An Alternative Aspect For The New Century: Slow Designs

Yıl 2011, Sayı: 3, 98 - 105, 01.04.2011

The consequence of today’s design paradigm are billions of products and buildings, most destined to lead very short lives in order to stimulate production. This roller coaster of production is partly driven by an unswerving belief in economic growth as a given cultural good. However, new cultural conversations about the value of ‘slowness’ are emerging today and “Slow” is perceived as an antidote to “Fast”, in our everyday world. This paper aims to discuss slow design concept from the aspect of textile and fashion design and to look over different slow design approaches on various industrial practices
