Öz

Tüm nesneler gibi, sanat eserlerinin de belirli bir yaşam döngüsü vardır. Çok katmanlı bir yapı sergileyen tuval resimleri de yaratıldıkları andan itibaren bir eskime sürecine girer. Bu eskime sürecinde, iç ve dış etkenlerle, doğal ya da insan kaynaklı nedenlerle pek çok değişim ve bozulma gösterir.Doğal bozulma nedenleri, ısı, nem, hava, ışık ya da biyolojik saldırılar olabileceği gibi, eserin malzemesinden kaynaklanan iç dinamikler de olabilir. İnsan kaynaklı bozulmalar ise sanatçı hataları, yanlış koruma koşulları ya da yanlış restorasyonlardır. Bu etkenler karşısında her nesnede olacağı gibi bir tuval resminde de fiziksel, kimyasal ve biyolojik değişimler oluşur; kimi zaman eser orijinal kimliğini tümüyle kaybeder

Deformations of Canvas Painting and the Causes

Like all objects, the artworks also have a certain life cycle. Canvas paintings, consisting of a multi-layered structure, also go through an aging process from the moment they are created. Within this aging process, they are exposed to numerous changes and deteriorations, caused by internal and external, natural and human-induced factors.Natural causes of deterioration may consist of heat, humidity, air, light and biological attacks, as well as the inner dynamics of the artwork’s materials. The human-induced deteriorations are indeed, the artists’ errors, incorrect maintainance, and improper restorations. Being exposed to all these factors, as all objects, the canvas painting shows physical, chimical and biological changes; sometimes loosing completely its original identity
