THE IMPACT OF CHANGE IN FOOD CULTURE ON SOCIALIZATION: A SOCIOLOGICAL EXAMINATION

Öz

Food, beyond being a biological necessity, has become a significant tool for socialization throughout history. This study aims to examine the effects of changes in food culture on socialization. Starting from a historical perspective, it explores how food practices have evolved in modern and postmodern periods and how they shape individuals' interactions. Using qualitative research methods, findings were obtained based on in-depth interviews with 14 participants. The results indicate that food has social functions such as unity, communication, and cultural transmission, in addition to its physiological role. Food stands out as an element strengthening socialization in its journey from traditional tables to modern restaurants. These findings emphasize how food culture is intertwined with social change.
