BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF ARTICLES ON ESG AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE IN WOSCC

Öz

Although ESG is a new concept, the number of academic studies on ESG and financial performance is increasing rapidly. Understanding the structure of the field is important for its rapid development. In this study, a bibliometric analysis of 273 documents published in the field of ESG and financial performance in the Web of Science Core Collecion database, the development of the number of publications over the years, the performance of the actors in the field, the collaboration structure of the field, the conceptual structure and its development over time were examined. The results reveal that there has been a rapid increase in the number of studies in this field, especially in the last 5 years, thus the field is a developing field and the co-operation structure of the field is open to improvement. It has been observed that the studies in the field of ESG and financial performance are grouped under the main themes of crisis periods, sustainable finance, sustainable development and social responsibility, corporate governance, sustainability of enterprises, corporate social responsibility and corporate social performance, and the topics that have been emphasised recently are ‘covid-19’, ‘green innovation’, ‘energy sector’, ‘banking sector’, ‘green washing’, ‘gender equality, “gender equality in the board of directors”, “business ethics”.

ESG VE FİNANSAL PERFORMANS ALANINDA WOSCC’DE YER ALAN MAKALELERİN BİBLİYOMETRİK ANALİZİ

Öz

ESG kavramı yeni bir kavram olmakla birlikte, ESG ve finansal performans alanında yapılan akademik çalışmaların sayısı hızla artmaktadır. Alanın bibliyometrik yapısının anlaşılması, gelişiminin hızla devam edebilmesi açısından önemlidir. Web of Science Core Collecion veri tabanındaki ESG ve finansal performans alanında yayınlanmış 273 dökümanın bibliyometrik analizinin yapıldığı bu çalışmada, yayın sayılarının yıllar içindeki gelişimi, alandaki aktörlerin performansları, alanın işbirliği yapısı, kavramsal yapısı ve zaman içindeki gelişimi incelenmiştir. Sonuçlar, bu alanda yapılan çalışmaların sayısında özellikle son 5 yılda hızlı bir artış olduğunu, dolayısıyla alanın gelişmekte olan bir alan olduğunu ve alanın işbirliği yapısının geliştirilmeye açık olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. ESG ve finansal performans alanındaki çalışmaların kriz dönemleri, sürdürülebilir finans, sürdürülebilir gelişme ve sosyal sorumluluk, kurumsal yönetim, işletmelerin sürdürülebilirliği, kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk ve kurumsal sosyal performans ana temaları altında gruplandığı, son dönemlerde üzerinde durulan konuların ise “covid-19”, “yeşil inovasyon”, “enerji sektörü”, “bankacılık sektörü”, “yeşil yıkama”, “cinsiyet eşitliği, “yönetim kurulunda cinsiyet eşitliği”, “işletme etiği” konuları olduğu görülmüştür.
