This study has been planned descriptively in order to determine self esteem in the students of Mugla University and the factors affecting. The research has been conducted Rosenberg self esteem scale which was consist of 63 questions and a brief questionnaire made up of 16 questions. The sample of this study included 820 students chosen at random from 8214 ones who were active students in the campus of Mugla University. In the process of selecting the number of students the fact that they were in proportion with their number in their departments was taken into consideration. In this research it was revealed that 61.5 % of them were high and the higher the number of siblings were, the lower their self-esteem was. It was also made known that the higher the mothers’ education level became, the higher the level of self esteem was. It was determined that the level of self esteem in the students whose mothers were civil servant and whose mothers were police women, military officer and inspectors was lower. It was found that the higher their family income was, the higher the level of self esteem was and these varieties were also found significantly effective on their self esteem (p<0.05). While self esteem sub-scale was found not to differ according to what they study at the university, their class or fathers’ jobs, whether parents were alive or they were stepparents, fathers’ education, family income, personal income were found to be related to 3 out of 12 subscale; social family structure, the place of settlement were found to be related to 4 out of 12 sub-scale; gender, age, number of siblings were found to be related to 5 out of 12 sub-scale; parents attitude was found to be related to 11 out of 12 sub-scale (p<0.05)
Çalışma Muğla Üniversitesi öğrencilerinin benlik saygısı ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak planlanmıştır. Araştırma Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği kullanılarak merkez kampus de öğrenim gören 8214 öğrenciden, bölümlerin evrendeki temsil oranlarına uygun olarak seçilen 820 öğrenci üzerinde yürütülmüştür.
